fall fantel....

Wanted to join in the fall mantel link party over at the Nester. I have a LOT more Halloween out then normal. I went a little crazy this year.

The whole mantel.

The leaves where around the door last year, but they bled on the white trim. Needless to say they are not going back there and I stuck them on the mantel and loved it and that is what started it all.

Loved the addition of the crow, so I had to go buy more.

My Pottery Barn Dollar store knock off.....LOVE it! I had to go back for another set for my sister, who loves Halloween. She could not find them at the dollar stores by her.

I also love the skull in my lantern. I think I have had the same vase with flowers in it forever. It will now be somethning that I change out on a regular basis. This guy has green glitter on the inside of his head....He greets you when you come through the front door. There is lots more out, these are just my favorites.

Thanks for stopping by for a look.

Mistreatment

I finally did it! I did a mistreatment.....thanks for the inspiration Nester. I have had the fabric for (shudder)6 or 7 years. I got it from my DH's aunt. She is in the high end furniture business and this was some fabric left over from a job. I have been wanting to do something some years. I almost did something with it when we were in Jacksonville, but then we moved back to Texas.......it was been sitting in box with some other fabric since we moved. I found the rod, brackets, finials and clips on clearance at Bed bath and Beyond. I had a stockpile of coupons, so I was able to get another 20% off each item. I sent about $60 on the rod. I thought I could splurge since I had nothing in the fabric. The trim was purchased at Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon. I then hot glued it on to the valance. I did have to do some sewing. the stripes for the valence were not going to go up and down. Did not like that. I measured and figured out the what I needed to have, and then just cut into 4 equal sections. I just straight stitched them together. I love it! for the panels i just ripped the lenght of fabric I had in half so that I would have 2 panels. My MIL was over (she sews) and convinced me to use hem tape onthe panels, well I ran out after one panel so the other one just got pressed down. Can you tell wich one has teh hem tape and whci one does not? I think it gives a warm to the room that it was lacking before. thanks for looking. Now i have to figure out how to add the blinkie!

Close up of valance and panel. (don't forget to notice the tassel!)

Tassels

I wanted to post pictures of the beautiful tassels that The Nester made just from me! I was so excited when I got the box and saw "The Nesting Place" little stamp on the box. Her tassels are so much better when you can see them in person. WOW! I love them. She made me a bird tassel; which has found its home on a lamp in the living room. For C, she made the cutest kitten tassel. She oh and ahhed over it before we found the right spot for it on her curtain tie backs. B loved his! I think he was just as excited as I was. He wanted it where he could see it before he went to sleep at night. His lamp on hi night stamp is not big enough to had it from so I put on his bed and then moved it tot he lamp that I just added that shines under his bed so that he can read at night. He has showed everyone his new bunny. Thanks again Nester!

I worked on a few "sewing" projects this weekend. I made several new headbands and sewing the panels together for my soon to be window "mistreatment". I need Scott to to hang the rod in the living room so that I can get it hung! I can't wait!

busy day

I have actually gotten a lot done today. I got up and got most of my daily list done and then headed off to Tuesday morning to look for a duvet for the new bedding that I got to order. I fell in love with this when it first came out and when I got the go ahead from Scott, I found out it was no longer available. (it sold out in a couple of weeks) When it showed up int he catalog again, i jumped right on it. I bought a new blanket, pillows and the duvet. I thought that I had some shams that would look nice. they were floral......colors matched but i just did not like it. so those are going back. I looks great! I just need to find some solid color shams. Any ideas? The blanket i bought is a light brownish color.

The Clam before the storm.

things are fixin' to get busy around here. Soccer practice WAS to start tonight....but I just found out it is canceled because of the storm that will be hitting the Texas coast tonight. I had the morning all planned out but when I checked email and my calendar I noticed that C had a make up gymnastics class @ 10:30, which meant that B had one 2 5:30 and that was the same time as soccer. Got the class rescheduled and finished my errands (which included getting new soccer shoes). Decided to have a little relaxing day and not worry out all that i needed to do an now i am blogging. not sure what will become of this blog. only time will tell.
I am not sure why I ma doing this blog thing. I guess that I read so many others blogs that I feel like I should have my own. I am a SAHM to two kids. B (7yrs) and C (3yrs). I enjoy crafting and hunting.
